Imported cars to undergo testing at the Pskent test site

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Starting from 1 November, imported cars will undergo technical testing not in the customs area but at the test site in Pskent. This was announced by Odiljon Tokhirov, Deputy Director of the Agency for Technical Regulation, in an interview with the Renaissance TV channel.

"From 1 November, to ensure the safety of people’s lives and protect consumer rights, we will conduct vehicle tests not in the customs area but at the testing base, that is, at the Pskent test site. The tests will be carried out based on key safety indicators.

"The tests we conduct will be internationally recognized. To achieve this, we are implementing UN regulations in the field of transport.

Testing will be conducted exclusively according to the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and European directives.

Safety will be ensured, and consumer rights will be protected if each vehicle is inspected or certified by official dealers," said Odiljon Tokhirov.

According to data from the Customs Committee, the import of gasoline cars decreased by 28% over the first nine months of the current year. From January to September 2023, 26,246 such vehicles were imported, which is 10,252 fewer compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, the import of hybrid passenger cars increased by 49% (from 7,650 to 11,425 units), while the import of electric passenger cars grew by 48% (from 10,917 to 16,209 units).

Overall, the pace of passenger car imports from January to September remained virtually unchanged. Last year, 54,287 passenger cars were imported during this period, while this year the figure reached 55,520 units (a decrease of 2.3%).
