IMF plans to open a technical assistance center in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 March, the meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance with delegation under the leadership of the Deputy State Secretary, the Federal Department of Finance and Financial Markets of Switzerland and the State Secretariat for International Finance, SIF, the Federal Financial Department, Alexander Carrer.

The head of the delegation said that the purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the finance ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Switzerland.

During the visit, it was noted that the IMF plans to open a technical assistance center in Central Asia. The Swiss group, as well as its government, will provide full (or partial) funding for the center. The IMF is looking for city located in Central Asia to designate the center, and the city of Tashkent is one of the best candidates. The center is designed to provide technical assistance in two areas: training and retraining of specialists, as well as the provision of technical assistance in various areas.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the memorandum project on strengthening financial cooperation between the two countries and sign it in the future.
