Economy03/09/2007ILS, Inc. to sponsor international workshop in Uzbekistan
International Land Systems (ILS), Inc. along with the World Bank and the European Union among others, will be helping to sponsor an international workshop in Uzbekistan.
The conference entitled "Land Policies, Land Registration and Economic Development in Central Asian Countries" is a four day event to be held on 31 October - 3 November, including an excursion to the city of Samarkand and its land registration office which runs the ILS LRS software.
Invited speakers from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries will present their views on developments in land tenure and land administration systems regimes and their related successes, failures and lessons learned.
Igor Popiv Managing Director of ILS Ukraine and Peter Rabley, President of ILS will be presenting a paper focusing on the development of property registration in Central Asia entitled "Information Technology Aspects for Integrated Land Registry and Cadastre."
ILS is intimately familiar with the various and often unique issues facing the Central Asian countries, having worked and installed systems in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in recent years.
ILS is excited to take part in this workshop, having been involved with land registration in Uzbekistan for 10 years. As Mr. Popiv states:
"Since 1997 International Land Systems (ILS) has been systematically involved in developing a computer based land and real estate property registration system. The efforts of our company combined with the focused and diligent work of the local experts united under the Uzgeodescadastre organization and supported by international experts through several phases of the European Commission donor program have resulted in establishing the national coverage of computer based registration, beginning of the integration of the cadastre, elaborated automated uniform procedures that assist local government and its agencies significantly increase their efficiency, gain trust of the users level and build the base for the public access and e-government federated system."
