Illegal Sale of Counterfeit Medical Products Uncovered in Tashkent Region During Special Operation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A joint special operation was carried out in the Zangiata district by officers of the State Security Service Directorate for Tashkent Region and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.

During the raid, a 1996-born resident of Tashkent was detained for selling large quantities of medical products without any documentation confirming their quality. The seized items included 9,500 units of Menovazin, 1,300 units of Glycerin, 2,000 units of Metralin, and 56,880 intravenous infusion systems, with a total estimated value of around 9,700 US dollars and 2 million 550 thousand soums.

An inspection revealed that the glycerin was produced and packaged using crude, makeshift methods.

According to the conclusion of the State Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety under the Ministry of Health, the sale, transportation, and use of these medical products and devices are prohibited on the territory of Uzbekistan.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The court has ordered pretrial detention as a preventive measure. Investigative proceedings are currently underway.
