Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Officers from the State Security Service in Tashkent region, in collaboration with customs and law enforcement agencies, conducted a series of operational measures to combat illegal drug trafficking.
Two residents of Tashkent were arrested after retrieving 1 kg and 834 g of hashish from a hideout in the Kuyichirchik district. The drugs had been left by couriers from Tajikistan.
In the Urtachirchik district, a Nexia vehicle traveling from Surkhandarya to Tashkent was stopped. The driver, a 1986-born resident of the Yukorichirchik district, and a 1991-born passenger with a prior criminal record were present. During a search with witnesses, 1 kg of hashish was found in the car doors, which was seized following legal procedures. It was established that the narcotics had arrived from Tajikistan and were intended for resale.
In the Zangiata district, three residents of the Denov and Sariosiyo districts were apprehended while attempting to transport 985 g of hashish to Tashkent in a Nexia vehicle. The investigation revealed that the drugs had been brought into the country by Tajik couriers.
In the Akhangaran district, three residents from Yangiyul and the Yangiyul district were detained upon their return from Kokand, where they had purchased 168 g of hashish and 722 tablets of the potent drug "Regapen" from an unknown dealer for 43 million soums. It was discovered that the narcotics had been delivered from Kyrgyzstan.
A Lacetti vehicle traveling from Fergana to Tashkent was also stopped in Akhangaran. During a search, 826 tablets of "Regapen" were found with the driver, a Transport Inspector, and two passengers with prior convictions. The medications had been purchased in Kokand for 22.5 million soums and were delivered from Kyrgyzstan.
Criminal cases have been initiated for all identified facts, and the suspects have been arrested in accordance with the law.
