Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 17 December, the champion of the Olympic Games in Athens, three-time world champion, the legendary judoka from Greece Ilias Iliadis signed a contract with the judo federation of Uzbekistan.

“In preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, a new leadership was created in the NOC. The new leadership has a great responsibility. To achieve high goals, we need to work closely with the federations and coaches, support each other,” National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan President Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov said.

In turn, head of Judo Federation of Uzbekistan Azizjon Kamilov emphasized that each representative of the team must take seriously the preparatory process.

“I express my sincere gratitude to the National Olympic Committee for the assistance and support. Honestly, the candidacy of Ilias Iliadis arose suddenly. We looked at coaches from Japan and Europe, and at this time we learned that the old Iliadis contract is already ending. Without wasting time, we managed to come to a mutual agreement. There is very little time left before the start of the Tokyo Olympics and it is necessary to make every effort to show maximum results,” Azizjon Kamilov said.

After that, a contract was signed between the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan and Ilias Iliadis until October 2020.
