ICT Ministry attracts Japanese loans for US$180 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss the implementation of the agreements reached following the high-level visits to the United Arab Emirates and Japan in 2019.

The report said that the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan at the expense of credit funds of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC, The Japan Bank for International Cooperation) plans to raise US$180 million for projects: “Creation of data storage and processing centers (Data- center)”,“ Expansion of international packet switching centers ”,“ Expansion of the telecommunication transport network and data network”, “Modernization of the radio network”.

Along with this, the Japanese specialist Etsuaki Yoshida began his activities at the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan as an adviser to the minister, who will deal with issues of attracting foreign investment and international credit lines for the implementation of the Program for the modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of information technology enterprises.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan introduced the posts of adviser-envoy for education, science and innovation, as well as an adviser for working with private business.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the meeting noted the need for full and high-quality implementation of measures defined for 2020 in accordance with the “road maps” developed following the visits.
