Huawei to supply equipment to Electronic Education network
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Huawei Technologies (China) will participate in implementation of the second phase of construction of national network “Electronic education” in Uzbekistan.

Chinese company and Uzbektelecom signed a contract on implementation of the second stage of the project with the cost of US$16.6 million. The cost of the contract is US$12.4 million.

Within the contract, Chinese firm will supply telecommunication equipment to connect 164 higher educational establishments, colleges and lyceums of Uzbekistan to the network.

National network “Electronic education” was launched in December 2011. The cost of the project was US$14.8 million. Investment project “Creating national network “Electronic Education” in Uzbekistan” has been financed due to own resources of Uzbektelecom joint stock company.

The project has been realized by the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information in partnership with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan. In the result, some 80 universities were connected to the network with the capacity of 1 Gbps.

Huawei Technologies also supplied equipment within the project. The contract cost was US$13 million.
