Horizons of Uzbek-Czech trade and economic cooperation are expanding

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 July 2023, the 9th meeting of the Uzbek-Czech Intergovernmental Commission on economic, industrial and scientific and technical cooperation (IPC) took place.

The meeting was attended by heads of key ministries, departments and industry associations, as well as diplomatic missions of the two countries.

Speaking to the participants of the event, the heads of delegations highly appreciated the growing trust and ongoing high-level dialogue. The visit of the head of the government of the Czech Republic to Uzbekistan in April this year was noted. As it was announced, effective intergovernmental contacts create a solid basis for increasing the volume of mutual trade, attracting investments and building up industrial cooperation.

The positive dynamics of the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation was emphasized. In particular, there has been a two-fold increase in mutual trade over the past few years. There is a great interest of the business circles of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic to conclude long-term and mutually beneficial contracts and agreements.

During the meeting, practical aspects of the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects in the mining, electrical, agricultural industries, hydropower, production of building materials, and banking were discussed. The parties expressed their full readiness to build up multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, there was also a meeting of heads of delegations in a narrow format, during which Laziz Kudratov and Josef Sikel discussed the practical aspects of fully exploiting the potential for developing cooperation in a number of areas. A constructive exchange of views made it possible to identify a number of promising sectors for enhancing cooperation and to consolidate specific mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the agreements reached.

As a result of the event, the Protocol of the IGC meeting was signed, as well as a joint "Roadmap" to expand trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic, which reflected new mutually beneficial projects and breakthrough initiatives.
