Uzbekistan coach Akhmad Ubaydullaev and the UAE coach Mahdi Ali
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan coach Akhmad Ubaydullaev is hoping to see his side make history when they take on United Arab Emirates in the AFC U-19 Championship final at Prince Mohammed bin Fahad Stadium on Friday.

A 1-0 win over Korea Republic in the semi-finals last Tuesday sent the Uzbeks through to the final of an Asian Football Confederation competition for the first time in their history but the Uzbek coach is now looking for his players to go one step further and win the tournament.

"This is the first time that we are playing in the final of an AFC competition," said Ubaydullaev in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"We have only reached the semi-finals of this tournament in 2002 and if we win the title then we will make history.

"It will be very important for us to win because it will be a turning point and bode well for the future of football in Uzbekistan.

"I want to thank the UFF (Uzbekistan Football Federation) who have helped us to prepare well for the competition. The final match is very important for us and we are looking forward to winning the title.

"However, UAE are a strong team and they have shown how good they are by winning all of their matches."

Ubaydullaev is expecting a strong battle between a stingy Uzbekistan defence that has conceded only one goal in the tournament and a UAE attack that has produced 10 goals in five matches.

"The match will be a battle between two strong teams.

"I always tell my players that no team can defend for 90 minutes but we will try to score from one of our quick counter-attacks.

"We will not know who is better - our defence or their strikers - until the end of the game and we will see who is going to prevail.

"We have previously beaten UAE in a friendly but the match on Friday will be different," he added.

"UAE have changed a lot but we have studied their play and watched their matches and I hope this will help us to win."

Uzbekistan midfielder Fozil Musaev is confident of his side’s chances.

"I believe that we can win the title as I have full confidence in my team-mates," said Musaev.

"However, it will not be an easy match as UAE are a very strong team and they reached the final after some powerful performances.

"I hope that I can score in the final and help the team," added Musaev who scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Thailand in the group stage.

"I will do my best and I hope God will help me to do it."
