Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2025, the high-speed Afrosiyob train will start stopping in the city of Kattakurgan, according to the khokimiyat of Samarkand region.
This decision is outlined in the presidential decree from 29 November 2024 “On Measures for Further Development of the Investment and Business Climate, as well as Improving the Living Standards of the Population in Samarkand Region.”
The Ministry of Transport and Uzbekistan Railways have been instructed to arrange an intermediate stop for the Afrosiyob train on the “Tashkent – Bukhara” route.
Additionally, plans are underway to launch a commuter train service between Samarkand and Kattakurgan.
As part of the broader railway development strategy, new routes are set to be introduced, including the “Bulungur – Samarkand – Juma – Kattakurgan” line.
The project also involves the modernization of railway stations and the procurement of modern trains.
