Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 August, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Turkish city of Konya was held at the Republican Center for Preparation for Olympic and Paralympic Sports. 

The event, held in high spirits, was attended by Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Abduvokhidov, Minister of Sports Development Adkham Ikramov, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, officials of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees, athletes and coaches.

Opening the event, Abdujabbor Abduvohidov noted that the Head of State pays great attention to athletes on an ongoing basis. He thanked the athletes for their courage in uncompromising competitions and wished them further success. 

Also at the event, Adkham Ikramov congratulated the domestic delegation on their victory. After that, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the winners of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games were awarded one-time cash awards in the amount of US$5,000, silver medal winners – US$3,000, bronze medalists – US$2,000.

In turn, the athletes expressed their deep gratitude for the attention and care provided by the state, and stressed that they would do everything possible to continue to adequately defend the honor of our Motherland in the international arena.
