Health Minister holds talks with WHO Office head
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of healthcare of Uzbekistan Anvar Alimov received newly appointed head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Uzbekistan Dr Asmus Hammerich.

Representatives of Ministry of healthcare, national coordinators of WHO in Uzbekistan, as well as employees of the WHO Country Office in Uzbekistan participated at the meeting.

At the meeting, Minister of healthcare Anvar Alimov welcomed Asmus Hammerich and congratulated with his appointment to the post.

The sides considered current state and perspectives of cooperation of Uzbekistan with the WHO. In particular, the sides considered cooperation in such areas as protection of maternity and childhood and fighting infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, flu, and non-infectious diseases (oncology, cardiology, smoking, etc).

In his turn, Asmus Hammerich expressed gratitude for warm welcome and congratulation. He also said that Uzbekistan and WHO should develop priority directions of collaboration for 2014-2015.

At the same time, the sides underlined that priority directions should be logical continuation of executed priority directions of cooperation between WHO and Ministry of Healthcare for 2012-2013.

At the end of the meeting, Anvar Alimov expressed success to Asmus Hammerich in his tenure in Uzbekistan.
