Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Governor of Samarkand Region, Erkinjon Turdimov, has suggested that sector leaders and officials experience navigating the streets in wheelchairs, according to the press service of the regional administration.
During a meeting at the regional administration, Erkinjon Turdimov emphasized that this approach would allow officials to personally assess how inaccessible the streets and especially government buildings are for people with disabilities.
Previously, the regional head had instructed the improvement of 32 intersections and 17 streets in cities and districts of the region to meet regulatory standards. However, he criticized the progress in this area. Additionally, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the work on establishing rehabilitation medical centers.
