Head of ISMI Center: Central Asian countries manage to effectively counter internal and external challenges

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 23 June, Dushanbe hosted the Republican scientific-practical conference on the topic: "Threats and potential dangers to stability and security in the integration processes in Central Asia", organized by the Institute for the Study of Asian and European Countries of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The event was attended by scientific and academic circles of Tajikistan and leading experts from Uzbekistan, who discussed in detail possible threats and challenges for stability and sustainable development of interconnectedness processes in Central Asia.

Murad Uzakov, head of the ISMI center, speaking at the conference, noted that "today the countries of the region pay special attention to the development of regional processes in Central Asia and unlocking the potential for cooperation." At the same time, according to him, thanks to the ongoing policy of good neighborliness, the establishment and maintenance of a close political dialogue, the comprehensive expansion of trade and economic ties, the five countries manage to effectively counter internal and external challenges.

At the same time, the ongoing global crisis phenomena, as an aggravation of geopolitical confrontation and confrontational rivalry, directly affect the states of Central Asia. They are increasingly beginning to have a negative impact on the stability of our region, increasing challenges and threats.

In this regard, the ISMI expert noted the importance for the CA countries of further development of political dialogue and strengthening of trust, maintaining mutual understanding. "The countries of the region should continue to find solutions to all complex issues on the basis of mutual compromises through negotiations," the expert stressed.

In addition, Murad Uzakov believes that in the conditions of turbulence in foreign markets, it is necessary to build up the regional economy and ensure its sustainability, including by concentrating efforts to turn Central Asia into a more self-sufficient and competitive region.

Moreover, today the Central Asian states need to jointly uphold the principles of multi-vector, political sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as consolidate efforts to strengthen subjectivity.

According to the expert, these efforts will increase the political and economic value of the region, convert challenges into opportunities for the formation of a new model of regional cooperation in a changing environment.

Speakers during the event, supporting the interaction of the countries of the region in the development of political and economic interconnectedness, also focused on the importance of the role of the mechanism of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which becomes an effective platform and determines the course of development of the region.

At the end of the conference, the experts highly appreciated the dialogue that took place, which confirmed the commitment of the countries of Central Asia to further joint building up the potential for interaction in the region and to join efforts in ensuring stability and sustainable development of regional processes. Readiness was expressed to hold such discussions on a regular basis in order to find and develop effective approaches to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in Central Asia.
