On the eve of the jubilee of Margilan city, the center of the development of handicrafts has started its work.
It was established jointly with the UNESCO Office in
“From the ancient times Margilan has been well known for its old traditions of original national handicrafts”, - the director of the center Abdurasul Mirzaakhmedov said. “Therefore we have established this center with an aim to train the youth on all nuances of the national applied arts. At the moment, our center is supplied with the necessary equipments”.
The head of the center is a representative of the weaver dynasty. He has revived the rare and extinct kinds of the silk materials and gave them the new colors.
The participation at the exhibitions of more than 10 countries brought him the distinguished recognition. At the moment from above 20 young boys and girls are working here on the creation of the unique samples of such materials as atlas, adras and silk.
Besides, the locally made produce is presented for participation at the foreign exhibitions.
