Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Half of the population of Uzbekistan is overweight, while 20% are obese, according to the results of a study conducted by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Residents of the country aged 18-64 years took part in the study.
It is noted that 67% of the population consume a sufficient amount of vegetables and fruits daily (less than 400 grams), but 46% have elevated cholesterol levels in the blood.
The average daily salt intake is 14.9 grams, which is three times higher than WHO recommendations (no more than 5 grams per day).
