Guest Houses of Parkent: A Blend of National Flair and Employment Opportunities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his visit to the Parkent district, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev toured the Kumushkon mahalla to familiarize himself with the area’s tourism potential and the growing network of guest houses that have flourished in recent years.

Tourism is increasingly emerging as a key driver of sustainable regional development. The state policy in this sector is aimed at providing comprehensive support — from tax and financial incentives to the development of modern infrastructure in rural areas with tourism appeal. More and more local residents are taking advantage of these opportunities to open guest houses and engage in the hospitality industry.

Kumushkon, nestled in a picturesque mountainous setting, has become a notable center for domestic tourism. Today, over 80 guest houses operate successfully in the area, hosting approximately 172,000 visitors annually.

One exemplary initiative is the guest house owned by Olim Yusubov, located along the Parkentsoy stream. With a capacity of 48 guests and interiors styled in traditional Uzbek design, the establishment welcomes over 2,000 tourists each year, including foreign visitors interested in Uzbek culture and natural landscapes.

The President commended the high standards of hospitality and the entrepreneurial spirit of the local community, highlighting the importance of replicating this model in other regions with tourism potential. He instructed relevant agencies to provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurs — including access to financing, skills development, and the creation of service infrastructure to enhance tourist routes.

He also emphasized that integrating local resources into the economic cycle of mahallas fosters job creation, increases employment, and contributes to the sustainable development of local communities.

In addition to its scenic beauty, Kumushkon also boasts cultural and spiritual landmarks. One such site is the well-known pilgrimage destination of Masjidalī, which attracts thousands of worshippers each year.

Currently, there are about 1,000 guest houses operating across the Tashkent region, collectively providing employment for more than 2,500 people.
