Gross agriculture output of Uzbekistan reaches 7.97 trln. soums in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross agriculture production of Uzbekistan made up 7.97 trillion soums in the first six months of 2011. The growth made up 6.7% compared to January-June 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan said.

The system of the Ministry in comparable prices produced industrial products for 49.8 billion soums with the growth of 5% year-on-year in the first half of 2010 and consumer goods for 3.07 billion soums with the growth of 10.3% year-on-year.

In the reporting period, the state capital investments for 185.8 billion soums were used and construction-assembly works for 157.6 billion soums were carry out.

In the first six months of 2011, the foreign investments under guarantee of the Government for US$25.64 million were attracted within 10 projects.

In line with the irrigated land-improvement state programme, some 73.6 billion soums were used. It is planned to carry out land-improvement works at 260,000 hectares.

According to the ministry, import-replacing products for 900.6 million soums were produced within nine projects of the localization programme.

As of 1 July 2011, there are 66,134 farm entities in Uzbekistan and some 5.295 million hectare of lands were rent to them. In average about 80 hectare of land fell to share of one farmer.

In the reporting period, agriculture enterprises (mainly farm entities) received 2765 units of agriculture equipment on leasing for 66.5 billion soums.

Commercial banks issued soft loans for 1.434 trillion soums to agriculture sector, of which 413 billion soums to grain production and 1.02 trillion soums to cotton production.

In season, the Uzbek farmers breed 437,877 boxes of silkworm and sold 24,616.3 tonnes of cocoons to the state. Average yield from one box of silkworm made up 57.5 kg.

Grain-breeders produced almost 6.8 million tonnes of grain, while average yield from irrigated lands made up 50.9 centeners per hectare.

Farms of all categories produced 3.255 million tonnes of fruits, vegetables, and potatoes, which is up by 383,300 tonnes year-on-year or 13.3%.

Within the programme on expanding production of untraditional oil-bearing crops, Uzbekistan sowed sunflowers at 17,400 hectares of irrigated lands, safflower at 55,000 hectares and soybean at 5,614 hectares.

As of 1 July 2011, number of cattle at farms of all categories reached 9.211 million heads or grew by 6.3% year-on-year. Number of cows rose by 5.6%, sheep and goats – 5.5% and poultry – 13.9%.

In the reporting period, Uzbekistan produced 727,000 tonnes of meat in life weight (+6.8%), over 3,007.9 tonnes of milk (+7%), 1.658 billion eggs (+16%), 14,500 tonnes of wool (+5.5%) and 908,000 units of karakul skins (10.2%).
