"Green week 2023": the results of the participation of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 84th international food exhibition Green week 2023 is coming to an end in Berlin. During the exhibition, more than 1,700 exhibitors from all over the world managed to demonstrate about 100 thousand types of the most diverse products that have gained worldwide fame.

Within the framework of this exhibition, more than 300 various forums, seminars, congresses and meetings, thematically related to food, were organized and held. Uzbekistan also takes part in this prestigious agricultural exhibition. At the stand of Uzbekistan with an area of 240 square meters, national products of more than 60 entrepreneurs from all regions of the country are presented. Among them: 227 types of agricultural and food products - fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat products, fat and oil products, soft drinks, confectionery, flour and flour products, and much more.

Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany Cem Ozdemir, Commissioner of the European Union for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski, Mayor of Berlin Franziska Ghiffy and other distinguished guests began their tour of the exhibition from the stand of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the XV World Forum on Agriculture and Food was held, as well as the Berlin Conference of Ministers of Agriculture, which was attended by 71 ministers and 15 heads of international organizations.

The agenda discussed the development and promotion of inclusive and crisis-resistant food systems, support for trade based on the rules of encouragement for stable food chains. Particular attention was paid to the issue of making food accessible and safe for all in order to achieve the UN goal of Zero Hunger in the 2030 Agenda.

In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov, in the context of the conference, noted:

“Deregulation, inclusiveness, environmental sustainability and stimulating productivity growth are now the basis of the new policy. The country has adopted the "Strategy for the Development of Agriculture in Uzbekistan until 2030", as well as a number of state sectoral programs that contribute to the improvement of all key indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals related to food systems. Equally important in this regard is our transition to a “Green Economy”, which strengthens the relationship between water resources, energy, food and the environment.”

During the visit, Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov held talks with the Ministers of Agriculture of Germany, France, Georgia, Turkey, Latvia, Canada, Mongolia, Holland, Poland, Hungary, Kazakhstan, the Federal State of Bavaria, as well as the heads of FAO, IFAD, the World Bank.

The following agreements were reached: on the implementation of bilateral agreements, the implementation of 12 projects worth US$575.6 million, trade contracts worth US$154.3 million, and a Road Map was developed.
