Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Presidential Decree “On measures to ensure environmental sustainability by further increasing the level of greening in the republic and the consistent implementation of the nationwide project “Yashil Makon” was adopted.

According to the Decree, as part of the implementation of the national project “Yashil Makon”, the following additional mechanisms are applied, according to which:

at least 50 percent of the funds allocated annually from the State Budget are allocated to finance “My Garden” projects to create “green gardens” and “green public parks” based on public opinion through the “Open Budget” information portal.

At the same time, based on the initiatives of the population, the creation of “green gardens” and “green public parks” is being initiated at a cost not exceeding 250 million soums, with the presentation of the location and pictures of the areas.

The formation and voting processes for “My Garden” projects are held annually in January-February.

In accordance with the Resolution, “green gardens” along roads and railways, banks of rivers and canals, on unused parts of land plots of state bodies and organizations (except for forest fund lands), are created on the basis of direct bilateral agreements concluded for a period of up to 10 years between the owners and users of these lands and the initiators - individuals and legal entities, under certain conditions.

Land plots are provided to republican executive authorities and local executive authorities for the creation of “green gardens” on the basis of the right of permanent use.

Also, the “Greenest Mahalla” competition will be held annually and the 14 mahallas, which, based on the results of the competition, became winners, will be encouraged at the expense of the Ecological Fund by:

transfers of 500 million soums to the corresponding mahalla fund for planting and watering trees, as well as the creation of “green public parks”;

purchase and delivery of one electric vehicle to citizens' self-government bodies for use for official purposes.

In 2024, employment will be provided for at least 10 thousand people by establishing work on growing seedlings based on home-based work on 1.5 thousand hectares of forest land.

The “Green Payment” platform will be introduced to service voluntary charitable contributions from users of electronic payment systems and other consumers to support the organization of planting trees and shrubs at the request of individuals and legal entities.

Also, in 2024-2026, a “Green Belt” with a total area of 441 hectares will be built around the city of Tashkent.
