Government approves measures to build a
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution on measures to build the administrative center of Tashkent region within the framework of the concept of "Smart City".

According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, the Government allocated 246.2 hectares of land for construction of a "smart city" in Nurafshon. At the same time, 113 hectares of land will be allocated on the territory of the "Konchy" massif and 133.2 ha - on the territory of the "Yangi turmush" massif.

The resolution created a directorate for construction of the administrative center of the Tashkent region was created within the framework of the "Smart City" concept under the Khokimiyat of the city of Nurafshon. The sources of financing of this project have also been approved.

The government instructed the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan to modernize telecommunications systems of Nurafshon. The ministry will also conduct fiber-optic networks.

In August 2017, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved the decision to rename the city of Toytep into Nurafshon.

Nurafshon was also designated as administrative center of Tashkent region. Earlier, Tashkent region did not have its administrative center.

Nurafshon will be the first "smart city" in Uzbekistan. This project is implemented jointly with specialists from South Korea.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to build administrative buildings, housing, business centers, hotels, sports centers, youth creativity center, library, school, hospital. Parks, gardens, squares, alleys for hiking and cycling will also be created.

Through the center of Nurafshon, an artificial canal will flow. Tashkent and Nurafshon will be connected with the high-speed road.
