The Fund was founded in line with the presidential resolution “On measures on organization of activities of Uzbekistan National Library named after Alisher Navoi – information resource center”.

In line with the resolution, the budget of the fund will be formed due to annual payments at the size of 5% from the sum, received to the Fund on development of information-communication technologies and other receipts, received in line with the legislation.

According to the document, about 60% of the fund’s budget resources will be directed to introduction of new information-library and information-communication technologies, software in activities of National Library and information-library establishments of Uzbekistan, and strengthening their material-technical base.

The fund will direct 60% of budget resources to encouragement of employees for their achievements and effective work. Other 15% will be used to purchase materials and spare parts for equipments of National Library, tools and equipment for restoration, preservation and storage of unique documents, as well as purchase of local and foreign publications.

Uzbek President also approved a programme of preliminary measures on organization of the activities of Uzbekistan National Library named after Alisher Navoi with the cost of 2.238 billion soums.

According to the document, 1.748 billion soums will be used in 2012. Fund for development of information-library establishments and sponsors will allocate 1.13 billion soums to implement programme, the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information – 788 million soums and budget – 320 million soums.

In particular, National Library plans to introduce interactive information services, improve network of libraries for people with disabilities, create conditions for them at National Library, etc.
