GM Uzbekistan’s share in Kazakh market falls to 8.34%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US carmaker, sold 2,933 automobiles in Kazakhstan in January-June 2012 against 1,516 cars in the same period of 2011, the consulting company Qncepto said in its report.

The growth of sales made up 93.47%. At the same time, share of GM Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan automobile market fell from 10.56% to 8.34% in the reporting period, Qncepto said.

In the result of the first half of 2012, GM Uzbekistan claimed the fourth place on the volume of sold cars in Kazakhstan after Lada, Hyundai and Toyota.

According to the report, Nexia model claimed the fourth place among bestselling cars in Kazakhstan in the first six months 2012 compared to same period of 2011. In the first half of 2011, Nexia was the second bestselling car in Kazakhstan.

Other model of the Uzbek carmaker Matiz slipped four positions and now holds the fourteenth place among the bestselling cars in the first half of 2012, Qncepto said.

GM Uzbekistan increased car output by 2.4% year-on-year in January-June 2012 to 108,638 units.

The plant increased production of Nexia cars by 5% to 42,704 units, Damas mini-buses – by 29.5% to 11,471, Captiva cars – by 9.3 times to 2,155 units and Spark cars by 12.7% to 14,368 units.

In January-June, the plant produced 25,164 Matiz cars (-14.4%), 12,200 units of Lacetti cars (-3.5%) and 572 Epica cars (-56.1%) and four Malibu cars.

In external market, Uzbekistan sold 58,900 cars with the export volume of US$401.8 million (+7.9% year-on-year).
