GM Uzbekistan sells 51,400 cars in Russia in 2009
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US car maker, realized 51,400 cars in Russia in 2009, the official dealer of the company in Russia said.

Uz-Daewoo said quoting Avtostat that GM Uzbekistan sold 28,200 Nexia cars and 23,300 Matiz mini-cars in Russia in the reporting period.

The company said credit sales of Uz-Daewoo cars rose three fold in 2009. It added that credit sales accounted 7.5% of total sales in January 2009, it made up 20.5% in December 2009.

The dealer explained the growth with timely launch of subsidized automobile crediting programme – Uz-Daewoo Finance. Within the programme, the dealer cooperates with VTB24, Sobinbank, Bank Otkritie, as well as Rusfinance Bank.

GM Uzbekistan increased car output by 5.1% year-on-year in 2009 to 205,011 cars. Uzbek population purchased over 160,000 cars in 2009.

The venture plans to increase car output by 7.3% year-on-year in 2010 to 220,000 cars.
