GM Uzbekistan is on third place on volume of car sales in Kazakhstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US joint venture, claimed the third place on the volume of automobile sales in Kazakhstan in August 2011.

According to the information of Qncepto, GM Uzbekistan realized 447 automobiles in the market of Kazakhstan in August 2011 compared to 192 cars in August 2010.

Lada (993 cars) and Hyundai (473 cars) shared the first and the second place on the volume of the sold automobiles.

In line with Qncepto report, Nexia model of GM Uzbekistan was the bestselling car in Kazakhstan in August as in previous month. Hyundai Accent and Lada 2107 were on the second and third place in the ranking.

Other model of GM Uzbekistan, Matiz was on the eleventh place on the volume of sales in August 2011, or slipped one place compared to July 2011.

Qncepto said that official dealers realized 4,025 automobiles and commercial cars in August 2011, which grew by 95.86% year-on-year and 5.84% compared to July. About 76% of sold cars fell to share of automobiles, produced in Kazakhstan and other CIS states.

Sales of cars in Kazakh market made up 25,026 units in eight months of 2011 or increased by 106.26% year-on-year. The company said that sales of cars in January-August exceeded the volume of sales in twelve months of 2010 (21,560 units).

Uzavtosanoat and South Korea’s Daewoo Motor created a joint venture - UzDaewoo Auto - on parity conditions with the charter capital of US$200 million. In 1996, the venture launched car production plant with the cost of US$650 million in Asaka city of Andijan region. The capacity of the venture is 200,000 cars per year.

In May 2005, Uzavtosanoat purchased 50% shares of Daewoo Motor in UzDaewoo Auto for about US$110 million. General Motors and Uzavtosanoat completed process of creation of GM Uzbekistan on the base of UzDaewooAuto in the end of March 2008. The charter capital of new venture is US$266.7 million.

General Motors owns 25% shares and plus one share in the new venture and it can increase its share up to 40%. Currently, Uzavtosanoat possesses 75% shares in GM Uzbekistan.
