GM Uzbekistan increases car output by 0.2% in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US automaker, increased car output by 0.2% year-on-year to 90,320 cars in the first half of 2009.

Enterprises of Uzbekistan produced spare parts and components for 83.025 billion soums (about US$55.7 million). The growth rate made up 9.4% year-on-year in January-June 2009.

GM Uzbekistan is producer of Captiva, Epica, Tacuma, Nexia, Matiz, Lacceti and Damas vehicles. General Motors (USA) holds 25% shares plus one share in the venture. GM also has option to increase its stake to 40%.

GM Uzbekistan produced 195,038 vehicles in 2008, or up 13.5% year-on-year. The venture produced 95,027 Nexia models (up 12.9%), 70,144 Matiz cars (up 10.3%) and 24,519 Damas mini-buses (up 17.6%) in 2008.

The company produced 1,389 Lacetti cars, 1,892 Captiva models, 2,016 Epica models and 14 Tacuma cars in 2008. The enterprise plans to produce 230,000 vehicles and export 136,000 cars.
