GM Uzbekistan car output down 14% on year in Jan-Feb
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The car output of GM Uzbekistan, a joint venture of US automaker General Motors (GM) and Uzbek automaker Uzavtoprom, decreased 13.9% on the year to 22,570 units in January-February.
Of the total, GM Uzbekistan produced 10,447 Nexia cars, down 15.5% on the year; 7,616 Matiz compact cars, down 21.9% on the year; 2,310 Damas minivans, down 32.1% on the year; 345 Epica cars, down 2% on the year; 325 Captiva SUVs, down 7.1% on the year; as well as 1,527 Lacetti cars. The company did not produce Lacetti cars in January-February 2008.
In 2008, GM Uzbekistan’s car output increased 13.5% on the year to 195,038 units, it said earlier.
GM Uzbekistan was set up in 2008. GM holds 25% plus one share in the joint venture and has an option to increase its stake in the company to 40%. Uzavtoprom holds other 75%.
