Global debt exceeds $100 trillion, BIS says
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The amount of global debt has soared more than 40% or US$30 trillion to $100 trillion in six years, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
The $30 trillion increase from $70 trillion between mid-2007 and mid-2013. These are mainly debts in bonds.
For comparison, the global gross domestic product (GDP) made up US$87 trillion in 2013.
The Bank for International Settlements was founded in 1930. Its headquarters are located in Basel. Its goal is to assist to cooperation to Central Banks. It regularly publishes macroeconomic researches.
