Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Ecology, Environment Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov met with Professor Udo Nagel, an experienced German specialist in zoo management.

At the meeting, Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that in recent years Uzbekistan has been implementing large-scale initiatives on ecology and environmental protection, in particular, on the protection of wildlife.

For his part, Udo Nagel shared his ideas for the development of zoos and nature reserves. In particular, he gave important recommendations on creating a barrier-free environment for keeping animals in close contact with each other in winter and summer rooms, abandoning fences and using durable glass materials, planting coniferous plants at the border of keeping animals, organizing a zoo exhibition in the form of “yesterday and today”, the creation of educational attractions, where knowledge of applied biology is taught, etc.

Udo Nagel also presented his presentation on the development of zoos and nature reserves in Uzbekistan.

In turn, Aziz Abdukhakimov noted the importance of studying the international experience of the Rostock Zoo. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the exchange of experience of Uzbek specialists in Germany.

At the end of the meeting, Udo Nagel was informed about the work carried out in the Ministry of the Environment.

The purpose of the meeting is to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation in zoos, provide technical assistance in the implementation of joint projects and programs, increase the potential of industry specialists, and discuss issues of mutual exchange of experience within the industry.

Udo Nagel arrived in Uzbekistan on 10 July. During the visit, he got acquainted with the activities of the zoos of the cities of Tashkent, Ferghana and Termez, the Zarafshan National Natural Park in Samarkand region and the Jeyran nursery in Bukhara region.
