German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner: “In recent years, changes have been taking place in Uzbekistan in all spheres of society”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 28 April 2023, a conference on the topic “Uzbekistan-Germany: new horizons of cooperation” started in Tashkent, organized by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISMI), the International Institute of Central Asia and the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner, speaking with a welcoming speech, noted that today the whole world is facing serious geostrategic and political challenges. Uzbekistan, in turn, is “resolutely fighting” these challenges and “doing it very successfully.”

“In recent years, Uzbekistan has been progressively moving into a new era. Changes are taking place in all spheres of society, this is a whole kaleidoscope of changes and new trends,” he said.

The head of the diplomatic mission paid much attention to the economic, cultural and humanitarian aspects of relations between Uzbekistan and Germany. He noted that trade increased by 107%, investments exceeded 1 billion euros.

He is pleased with the fact that bilateral cooperation is not limited to the economy, the spheres of science and culture are also actively developing.

In this context, he reported on the significant interest of Uzbek students and schoolchildren in learning the German language. Therefore, Germany stepped up work to meet demand. “We are trying to take this to a new level in order to increase the number of German learners,” said T. Klinner.

At the end of his speech, the ambassador noted that he wants all the planned projects to come true.

The Uzbek-German forum, held at the International Institute of Central Asia and timed to coincide with the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Germany, brought together a solid composition of participants from among representatives of political-forming circles, parliaments, diplomatic corps, business communities, ministries and departments of the two countries. Experts from leading analytical centers in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, America, who arrived in Uzbekistan as observers for the upcoming referendum on constitutional reform, are also invited to the conference.
