Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan continues to investigate the criminal case related to the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Department of Information Policy at the Presidential Administration.
As part of the ongoing investigative activities, seven individuals have been identified as involved in the crime.
Five of the suspects have been detained, while arrest warrants have been issued for two others.
According to the prosecutor’s office, one of the suspects was found in Kazakhstan, where investigative actions have already been carried out.
In addition, another defendant in the case, Jahvon Yunusov, was arrested in South Korea and extradited to Uzbekistan.
Recall that on the night of 26 October, unknown individuals opened fire on a Range Rover in which Komil Allamjonov, a former Presidential Administration official, was traveling in the Kibray district. After the attack, the assailants fled the scene. No one in the vehicle, including the driver, was harmed.
The case has been opened under Article 97 in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code (attempted intentional murder), as well as Article 248 (illegal trafficking in weapons).
