Within the visit, Alexander Medvedev and Shokir Faizullayev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, signed a contract on purchase of gas between Gazprom and Uzbekistan and agreement on transportation of gas through Uzbekistan territory for 2013-2015.

Rustam Azimov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Uzbekistan, participated at the signing ceremony.

The sides reached agreement on creation of joint working group on development of new long-term agreement on strategic cooperation between Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz.

The Agreement of Strategic Cooperation in the gas industry between Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom was signed on 17 December 2002. In particular, the Agreement provides for long-term procurement of Uzbek gas in 2003–2012, Gazprom's participation in natural gas production projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the PSA terms as well as cooperation in the field of Uzbekistan's gas transmission infrastructure development and Central Asian gas transmission through the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Within the agreement on strategic cooperation, the sides signed several agreements on purchase of gas and agreements on gas transportation through territory of Uzbekistan. The term of the agreement expires on 31 December 2012.
