Gazprom opens a representative office in Uzbekistan.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Russian Gazprom has opened a representative office in Uzbekistan, as indicated by data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE).

In June 2023, Uzbekistan signed a two-year gas purchase agreement with Gazprom. The volume of deliveries amounts to 9 million cubic meters per day, reaching nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters annually. Deliveries under this agreement commenced on 7 October 2023.

Furthermore, Gazprom plans to start supplying much larger volumes of gas to the countries of Central Asia through the "Central Asia – Center" gas pipeline by 1 November 2025.

There are plans to conclude medium-term fifteen-year contracts with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is interested in increasing gas supplies from Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also announced efforts to expand the capacity of the "Central Asia – Center" pipeline system. This will allow for an increase in gas pumping volumes to Uzbekistan to 11 billion cubic meters annually by 2025.

Earlier, the first phase of the program to modernize the main gas pipeline system was announced to increase natural gas import volumes in the northern direction from 2024 to 2030. The project costs $500 million.

As a result of the modernization, gas deliveries from Russia to Uzbekistan will increase from 9 to 32 million cubic meters per day.
