The 4th Uzbekistan International Exhibition "Furniture and Manufacturing Technologies - MebelExpo Uzbekistan 2007" opened at the Central Exhibition Hall of the "UzExpoCenter" National Exhibition Company in Tashkent on 29 May  2007.

The Mebel Expo Uzbekistan 2007 exhibition was organized by Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, "Fayz" Holding Company, Mayor Office of Tashkent city and ITE Uzbekistan international company and its partner I.T.E. E&C Ltd (Great Britain).

As economy grows and the country develops the development of the furniture industry is also continues, UzA reported.

The Mebel Expo Uzbekistan 2007 exhibition gathered specialists of furniture and wood-working industries: heads of key ministries and departments, general directors, top managers of furniture and wood-working industries, companies supplying technologies and equipment, engineers, designers, and architects from leading enterprises of Uzbekistan, countries of near and far abroad.

More than 30 companies and firms are participating at the exhibition: local and foreign manufacturers of furniture, suppliers of raw materials and constituent parts, vendors of corresponding goods, and designers. The following countries are among the participants: Russia, Germany, Poland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and others.

The furniture market of Uzbekistan can be conditionally divided into five sectors. The first sector is the "Fayz" Holding Company, consisting of 26 furniture factories and occupying about 30 per cent of the market. Nine of these enterprises were given to the holding for beneficial ownership after dissolution of the "Uzbekmebel" government corporation in 2001. Eight of them are located in Tashkent, and one: "Rishtanmebel" JSC is located in Ferghana Region. Apart from this the holding owns factories in other regions of Uzbekistan.

In all, thirty former state furniture enterprises, which after dissolution of the "Uzbekmebel" government corporation were transferred under the supervision of local hokimiyats, can fit into the second sector. Many of them were reorganized into joint stock companies. "Almalykmebel" is one of the best known manufacturers of this sector.

The third sector – joint ventures. An overwhelming majority of furniture joint ventures are located in Tashkent. Just like in other sectors of economy, they introduce advanced technological and designer solutions, new techniques of organizing production distribution, modern approaches in management, which undoubtedly places them in leading position among other furniture enterprises.

The fourth sector, which accounts for around 30 per cent of market of local furniture, consists of small and medium private enterprises – typical representatives of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship. The fifth sector comprises distributors and suppliers of foreign furniture, accessories and equipment for furniture manufacturing. All of the five sectors of the furniture market are widely represented at the stands of the Mebel Expo Uzbekistan 2007 exhibition in the following general sections such as Office furniture, built-in furniture, furniture fittings, furniture mountings, equipment for manufacturing of furniture, wood-working equipment.
