From 1 November, increasing coefficients for electricity to be introduced in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 1 November 2023, increasing coefficients for monthly electricity consumption will be introduced in Uzbekistan.

The corresponding decision was made by the Government of Uzbekistan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the increasing coefficient will not affect 98% of consumers.

The Ministry noted that 146,000 subscribers out of 7.59 million consume more than 1000 kWh of electricity per month.

At the same time, 10,000 of them consume more than 5,000 kWh per month and more than 4,000 - over 10 thousand kWh of electricity per month.

The department emphasized that the cost of the tariff does not increase and remains at the level of 295 soums.

However, an increasing coefficient is being introduced “to enhance the mood of saving among people and eliminate the foundations of the “shadow economy.”

When consuming more than 1001 kWh, the subscriber will pay a tariff of 259 soums per 1000 kWh. Next, for each kWh the consumer will need to pay according to an increasing coefficient.

For consumption from 1001 to 5000 kWh, the cost of 1 kWh. according to the increasing coefficient will be 590 soums (coefficient 2), from 5001 to 10000 kWh - 885 soums (coefficient 3) and more than 10001 kWh. - 1180 soums (coefficient 4).

“The increasing coefficient is a fair, economical and energy-efficient solution,” notes the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
