Free breast cancer diagnosis campaign takes place in three Uzbek regions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Free breast cancer diagnosis campaign of the “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association was held in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions of Uzbekistan from 28 October to 2 November 2013.

The medical specialists provided 1,300 consultations to women. The campaign attracted the skilled local and foreign healthcare specialists.

The campaign is held annually to boost process directed at solving problems related to breast cancer. Annually 1 million breast cancer cases registered in Uzbekistan and over 600,000 people die.

The campaign was held in Surkhandarya region on 28-29 October. The doctors provided 187 consultations and revealed 29 cases of pre-cancer condition.

Kashkadarya region hosted the campaign on 30-31 October. About 674 women received consultations within the campaign in the region and various pre-cancer conditions were revealed.

The campaign was carried out in Samarkand region on 1-2 November 2013. The healthcare specialists consulted 439 women and in the result over 230 cases of cancer were revealed.

During the campaign, the breast cancer specialists examined 566 women, cancer gynecologists – 347 women, specialists on ultrasound diagnosis – 346 women. Some 41 women were underwent psychological trainings.

Within the campaign, some 13 cases of suspected breast cancer, 1 suspected case and 3 cases of cervical cancer, 4 cases of precancerous condition of the mammary glands, and 2 cases of precancerous condition of the cervix, as well as 672 cases of other benign diseases were revealed.
