Francophonie Week to be held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Week of Francophonie will be held in Tashkent, the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The Week is organized on occasion of 20 March – International Francophonie Day, which is marked annually. The Week of French language and Francophonie is a regular place of people, who love French language in France and abroad.

The Week allows public to honour French language and express their gratitude to the language, glorify its richness and diversity.

The event is organized by Embassies of the member states or observes of International Francophonie Organization, accredited in Tashkent.

The Week of Francophonie will be held at French Institute in Uzbekistan on 18-19 March 2014. The programme of the week includes contests with prizes, including visit to France, demonstrate films in French language and plays, as well as other events.

Currently, International Francophonie Organization unites 77 states and governments. Over 220 million people talk in French language worldwide and French language holds the fifth place in the world and second place in European Union. About 400,000 students study French in Uzbekistan.
