Fourth seeded Malek Jaziri advances to second round of Tashkent Challenger
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fourth seeded Malek Jaziri of Tunisia scored a 6-4,6-4 win over Peter Gojowczyk of Germany to enter the second round of the men’s singles event at the $125,000 ATP Tashkent Challenger.

The highest ranked player from the Africa zone Jaziri ranked 112 hit 13 aces in his straight set win in 1 hour 6 minutes.

In the longest match of the day, lasting 2 hour 32 minutes, Czech Republic’s Jan Mertl scored a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(9) over Dominik Meffert of Germany to make it to the round of sixteen. Mertl ranked 190 played strongly from the baseline to win the first set breaking the 186th ranked Meffert in the third game.

The tall German Meffert served well in the second set breaking Mertl in the2nd and the 8th games to win the set and level the set scores at 1-1.

In the third set both players served strongly and traded their serves once each forcing a tiebreak in a set marked by long games, just one backcourt error from the German in the tiebreak at 9-9 saw him go down

It was a bad day for the Uzbek wildcard players , Serbian Dusan Lajovic came back from being 2-4 down in the second set to register a 7-6(2),6-4 win over Nigmat Shofayziev, while Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan survived some anxious moments before putting out another wildcard Sarvar Ikramov winning 6-3, 7-5

The Kazhak Davis Cupper hammered 15 aces, breaking Ikramov in the sixth game of the first set, and the 11th game in the second set to win in 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Belarusian Uladzimir put up a clinical display of tennis to outplay Japanese youngster Hiroki Moriya 6-4, 6-4 and make place into the last sixteen.
