Forum of women public organizations held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Forum of women public organizations was held in Tashkent, which was organized by the Uzbekistan Women’s Committee.

MPs of Legislative Chamber and members of Senate, representatives of ministries and departments, women NGOs civil society institutes and others attended the event.

At the event, the participants discussed issues related to participation of women in public life of the country, including in the election process.

It was noted that women are contributing to strengthening of the country. Currently, 48% women are working in various sectors of economy, 28.3% - production and 37% in agriculture. Number of women in executive power rose from 3.4% in 2005 to 19% in 2015.

About 71.3% employees of the Ministry of Public education and 62.1% of staff of the Ministry of Healthcare are women.

At the same time, 46% of member of Milliy Tiklanish party are women, 37.3% - UzLiDeP, 48% - People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and 51% - Adolat Party.

It was said that 10.5 million people from 21.5 million voters are women. While over 270,000 women will vote for the first time.

Women also actively work in NGOs. There are also NGOs, which focus their efforts to women. Currently, there are 8,400 NGOs in Uzbekistan and they focus on protection rights and promotion of interests of women and their families. There are 300 such organizations.

The participants discussed issues of protecting interests and rights of women, maternity and social protection. They also determined main tasks on further improving work in this direction.
