Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Former head of Andijan administration Bakhrom Khaydarov died in prison.

Khaydarov’s death was investigated by the Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Ombudsman found out that Khaydarov suffered from coronary heart disease and angina pectoris. In April 2022, he underwent coronary stenting surgery.

On 5 March 2024, he died in the therapeutic department of the hospital from complications of the third stage of hypertension and the third degree of arterial hypertension with the fourth degree of risk.

The ex-khokim of Andijan was sentenced in December 2022 to 10 years for theft of 48 billion soums from the budget, as well as on charges of official forgery and money laundering.
