Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 April, in Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan), on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS member states, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov met with acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov.

An exchange of views took place on key issues of Russian-Uzbek relations, including the further promotion of interstate dialogue, as well as on current international issues.

Bakhtiyor Saidov informed about the preparations for holding of the referendum on the draft law “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” on 30 April 2023. 

The Russian side expressed full support for this important political event in a friendly state and readiness to promote the free expression of will of the citizens of Uzbekistan, who will be in this period on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The intention for close interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries was confirmed in the interests of further strengthening the Russian-Uzbek comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.
