Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea held talks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 June 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin.

“We had a meaningful meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin. The establishment of closer cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, the creation of new opportunities for active business contacts, the enrichment of the dialogue in the "Republic of Korea + Central Asia" format, peace and security issues, the exchange of knowledge and technology took the top spot on the negotiation agenda. The Republic of Korea has always been and will remain one of the most important strategic partners of Uzbekistan,” the Uzbek top diplomat noted.

“We are grateful to our South Korean friends for their continued support in our efforts to create a sustainable economy and build highly skilled human capital. We are taking measures to double the volume of trade and foreign direct investment between our countries,” said the Uzbek Foreign Minister.

The ministers stressed with satisfaction the high level of dynamics in the development of bilateral relations, the intensification of contacts at various levels, and the growth of mutual trade.

The heads of the foreign ministries exchanged views on further building up bilateral relations in priority sectors, actively promoting economic diplomacy, interaction within multilateral platforms, as well as in the field of regional development.

“Together with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea Park Jin we have signed the Framework Agreement for Cooperation on Climate Change between our governments. As part of the visit of South Korean delegation documents aimed at enhancing cooperation on parliamentary, agriculture, phytosanitary, forestry, and smart tech areas were also signed,” the Uzbek FM added.
