Five paintings are missing at Savitsky museum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National Security Service of Uzbekistan opened a criminal case on missing of five paintings at the State Art Museum of Karakalpakstan named after Savitsky on 28 August 2015, a new programme Ahborot of Uzbekistan TV station reported.

According to the report, the specialists carried out inventory of 800 paintings and drawings from 85,000 exhibits of the museum.

Preliminary results of inspection showed that paintings “On vacation” of Gan, “In the village” of Kashina, “Portrait of a woman in a hat with a blue ribbon” of Safronov, “Vineyard” of Trusov and “Women picking tulips” of Karahan were missing and other works were stored under their inventory number and names.

According to estimates of the commission on assessment of exhibits of the Department of art expertise of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Uzbekistan, total cost of these paintings make up 581.652 million soums, the report said.

Investigation on criminal case is continuing.
