Five archaeological monuments to be museumized in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to develop the service sector in museums” approved the address plan of archaeological monuments subject to museumification in 2023-2026.

The Cultural Heritage Agency, together with the Academy of Sciences, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokimiyats of regions and the city of Tashkent, with the involvement of experts and specialists in the field of archeology, plans to conduct research work, conserve archaeological monuments and create an open-air museum in them, as well as take measures to turning them into a tourist attraction.

Based on Resolution No. 261, regional restoration centers carried out a number of works at the archaeological sites “Chilanzar Oktepa” in Tashkent, “Dalverzintepa” in Surkhandarya region, “Mingtepa” in Andijan region, “Sherozkala” in Samarkand region, “Koy-Krylgan-kala” in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The Cultural Heritage Agency allocated 1 billion soums for the museumification of the Sherozkala archaeological monument, located in Samarkand region. Based on the design and estimate documentation, the mothballed part of the facility is covered with a metal structure. To provide a complete overview of the monument, an observation deck was built and benches for visitors, as well as restrooms and paths were installed.

500 million soums have been allocated for the restoration and restoration of the archaeological monument “Chilanzar Oktepa” in the city of Tashkent. An observation deck was built according to the project, allowing for a complete overview of the object. For the movement of visitors, paths have been laid and lamps have been installed. Also, in order to ensure traffic safety, the facility is surrounded by a fence. As a result of the implementation of these projects, an open-air museum was created in the Chilanzar Oktepa archaeological site and turned into a tourist site.

Based on the relevant resolution, the Cultural Heritage Agency allocated 800 million soums for the archaeological monument “Dalverzintepa”. All work for the specified project has also been completed at the site. To ensure traffic safety, the facility is fenced.

In all memorial complexes specified in the resolution, they were carried out on the basis of design and estimate documentation.
