First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction meets with representatives of World Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 December, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov held a meeting with a delegation of the World Bank.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Construction Shukrullobek Jahangirov, Director of the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research Umid Abidkhodjayev, Head of the Department of Cooperation with the World Bank Group Behzod Khamroev, Director of the Department for Coordination of the development of territorial master plans for the development of services Sherzodbek Otaboev, Director of the Department for Coordination of Land Reforms Mohir Shagazamov and others.

On the part of the guests, Christopher Push, Head of the Urbanization Practice, Ellen Hamilton, a leading expert on urban development in the ECA region of the global practice in the field of urbanization, sustainability and land resources.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties discussed important indicators for the development of the economy, the main topic of the visit was the privatization of urban non-agricultural land and issues of sustainable urbanization in Uzbekistan. 

During the meeting, the coordination of strategic foundations for sustainable urbanization in Uzbekistan, roadmaps for the implementation of reforms and privatization of urban non-agricultural land in support of the concept of sustainable urbanization in Uzbekistan were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of urbanization and housing, privatization of non-agricultural land, and agreements were also reached on the program of the visit of the World Bank Regional Director for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia to Uzbekistan, which is expected in January 2023.
