Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Friday morning, the first Jinbo freight train arrived in Shanghai as part of China-Europe rail freight, which marked the first shipment of exhibits of the China International Import EXPO / CIIE / by freight train to the city, Xinhua News Agency reported.
A total of 35 containers with goods weighing about 460 tons were sent from Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany to the Polish city of Malaszewicz, and then transported by freight train through the Alashan checkpoint to Shanghai.
Jinbo is the Chinese abbreviation for CIIE. Exhibits on display at the upcoming 4th CIIE include intelligent combined vacuum jetting systems and electrical parts. Before leaving for China, all transported exhibits and the freight train itself were thoroughly disinfected and checked in accordance with the EXPO epidemic prevention and control requirements.
According to Wang Jinqiu, chairman of the train operating company, it took half the time to deliver goods by China-Europe freight train to their destination compared to shipping goods by sea.
The Shanghai Express, the first Shanghai freight train in China-Europe rail service, departed from the city in September, marking the first cross-border rail link between Shanghai and Europe. To date, four China-Europe freight trains have departed from Shanghai to Germany’s Hamburg.
