Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A fire occurred in a passenger train traveling on the Mangistau – Nukus route.

According to information from the company "Uzbekistan Temir Yullari," the incident took place on 19 September 2024, at 14:47, when sparks began to emit from the turbo compressor section of the locomotive. This led to the ignition of rubber technical plates at the intercar connections.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of the train driver, the train’s movement was quickly stopped, and the fire was extinguished by 14:50.

All passengers remained safe, and the carriages did not sustain serious damage.

After repairing the locomotive and checking the rheostat, the train resumed its journey at 15:30, arriving at Nukus station with a delay of 1 hour and 3 minutes, specifically at 16:23.

In connection with the incident, disciplinary measures were taken against those responsible, and all other locomotives underwent repeated checks for fire safety.

The locomotive has now been repaired and is ready for operation.
