Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An article “Econet is expanding its activities in Central Asia” was published on the electronic portal of the large business association of Finland “EastCham-Finland”, Dunyo news agency reports.

Finnish water and environmental project contractor Econet is opening a subsidiary in Uzbekistan, according to its website.

Since 2002, Econet has reportedly planned and implemented water and wastewater treatment projects for industrial and municipal operators in 41 countries. The company is now expanding into the Central Asian market. Econet’s goal is to participate in emerging markets and infrastructure projects in the Central Asian region.

According to Mika Kärkkäinen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Econet, quoted by the portal, Uzbekistan understands the enormous importance of clean water from the point of view of the development of society as a whole. He expressed confidence that Finland’s internationally recognized experience in the field of water resources can make a valuable contribution to ensuring the availability of clean water and sustainable environmental development in Uzbekistan.

Mika Kärkkäinen also told the publication that he was pleasantly surprised by the ease of registering a business in Uzbekistan, since Econet completed the necessary documents within one day.

The article also reports that a non-state university, Nordic International University, has been created in Tashkent in collaboration with Finnish universities and organizations. Its goal is to act as a hub for Finland and other Nordic countries in the field of quality development of human capital, creation of new companies, business development and international projects.
