Uzbekistan 08/04/2008 Finnish envoy visits Uzbekistan to boost ties
Uzbekistan and Finland established diplomatic relations on 26 February 1992. Bilateral trade turnover comprised US$26.6 million in 2007, the agency said.

Ms. Marja-Liisa Kiljunen noted in interview with Jahon news agency that this was her third visit to Uzbekistan and last one took place two years ago. She said that Uzbekistan changed significantly.

Ambassador said she want to make her contribution for attraction of great number of Finnish tourists to Uzbekistan in order to acquaint with rich heritage of Uzbekistan. She added that the sides have great opportunity for cooperation, which should be developed and strengthened.

Marja-Liisa Kiljunen said the relations between Uzbekistan and Finland are in good level and Finland intends to develop further political, economic and humanitarian relations with Uzbekistan.

The report said she noted that the favourable investment climate attracts Finnish companies to this Central Asian states.

Envoy said she attended signing ceremony of intergovernmental agreement between the government of Uzbekistan and Finland on mutual assistance in customs affairs, which will serve as foundation to bilateral economic relations.

She expressed the cooperation between states, which based on mutual understanding, will further develop and strengthen.
